After a day delay, the new Pet Society items were released today. There’s some really fun stuff including:
Clothing: There’s a beautiful new sari, which doesn’t look entirely correct, but Momo still loves it! She’s wearing it in the photos below. There’s also a cool new fireman suit and a “Lolita” dress. I think Nabokov’s book is so much better than the fashion trend, but the dress is cute.
Soft-serve ice creams are now available in the food store. I only wish that the orange flavored soft-serve was not just a “this week special” item. The chocolate and strawberry soft-serves will continue to be available in later weeks. Here’s Momo getting ready for a feast!

In the DIY store, my favorite items are the gingerbread house wallpaper and window. So cute! Unfortunately, you can’t place plants on the gingerbread window ledge.

In the furniture store, my favorite items are the leather-bound books and the ladybug doll:

The latest news from the mayor was sent out today.

The newest shopkeeper in Pet Society is the greedy, seedy Terrence. He speaks with a British accent.

To buy items in the new Playfish Cash Store, players must invest real money into purchasing a new Playfish currency called “Playfish Cash.” Playfish cash is different and separate from the Playfish coins we have been playing with since August 2008.

The only way to earn Playfish Cash is buy paying real money. Items purchased from the Playfish Cash store can only be gifted at the point of purchase. This means that players cannot trade the items.
There are some pretty items in the store, and many of them claim to make earning Pet Society coins easier. I’m pretty disappointed, since so many people on the Playfish forums have complained about difficulties in earning coins. Now, instead of just adapting the game, Playfish wants players to pay real money to make earning fake Pet society coins easier. What a Catch-22!
I wish Playfish had stuck to the old in-store advertisements for revenue within the Pet Society interface. This is a screencap I took on January 10, 2009 when a Blockbuster ad was visible for a month in the food store. There was also an ad for flowers in February 2009. These ads were a lot less intrusive.

Does anyone else have an opinion on Pet Society Playfish Cash?
This week has been so dull in Pet Society. The new weekly items and mystery items have been delayed until Monday. There are supposed to be some big updates along with the new items on Monday. I just have to stay patient.
Today I bought a fairy tale mystery egg, and at long last completed my set of fairy tale scenes in Pet Society that were introduced on April 27, 2009. Both the scenes and the toys come from the pink “fairy tale” mystery eggs in the Mystery Store. I found all the toys easily, but had a more trouble finding the scenes. The scene I found today was the “Fairytale Land” scene for the Wizard of Oz toy set! After my long search, I ended up with some duplicate toys. I still have to decide whether to keep or sell the extras. They’re cute, so I might keep a few.
Here’s a photo of Momo playing with her fairy tale toy scenes:

It’s a new week in pet society, and there’s loads of cute stuff. I love all three of the new outfits. Momo can now dress as a pharaoh, a jungle explorer or Khmer dancer (pictured below).
The oriental tiger plushie is so sweet, and I like the new be-ribboned cushions. There’s lovely rattan furniture that makes me want to redecorate again! I also like the light fittings in the gadget store and the garden furniture.
The first item I bought this week was the new food from the Mystery Store It’s a Love potion that lasts two days. I’m glad the effect will last a day longer than the apple. With two days, I’ll be able to enjoy the effect a bit before it’s gone.
Below and on the left is an image of how Momo looks when she’s “Loved Up.” Below and on the right is a photo of her “Loved Up” on her magic potion plus the effect of the “send some love” gift box from the food store.

On the Pet Society forum, some members have posted photos of the upcoming Pet Society sari, as seen in the stadium, which hopefully will be released tomorrow.
I’m really excited about the sari, but I wish there were a few adjustments to it. It would look more realistic if it were floor length and if the pallav (the portion of the sari which covers the bodice and falls over the shoulder) draped in a diagonal across the body.
I used Xiaole’s screencap from the forum to edit the sari picture to look more realistic. The original is on the left, and my photoshop adjustments are on the right.

Today Momo found two of the new Pet Society mystery items that were released yesterday. She’s dressed as Sherlock Holmes, which may have helped her find the new mystery items.
Both items were in the gold mystery boxes. She found a “turquoise mini bubble chair” and a “world traveler suitcase.” Very cool!

I caught a couple sightings of future Pet Society clothing items while running races today:
1) and 2) New Safari Hat and Fireman’s Coat

3) New Fireman’s Hat

4) New Dress

5) Egyptian Hat

6) New Safari Shirt

7) New Dress

Tonight’s Pet Society new items release was fantastic. In all my months of playing, I think this is my favorite new item week so far! I love all three of the new wallpapers, the new long blue rug, the pinata, and the new clothing.
I wish the new foods, DIY and furniture under “this week special” were available all the time and weren’t just special items. The tortilla chips/nachos might have looked better in a bowl. They look a bit odd balancing on their point.
(edited to add:you can put the tortilla chips in the “painted bowl” (available in the furniture store). They look better that way.)
After buying a new dress, Momo got a love heart box from her husband Moco:
