I just found the second mystery item, a pair of vintage shades, which was introduced into the gold mystery boxes last week. I’m so excited to find them! Here’s Momo wearing the glasses in her frog costume. Heehee!
New Pet Society Items – June 21th June 21, 2009
This week, Pet Society is celebrating mid-summer and the summer solstice with traditional Scandinavian clothes, treats and decorations. You can read more about the celebrations here. There’s a wonderful assortment of new items!
I had already noticed the decreased prices of a bunch of great items for our gardens in the last post, but with tonight’s update, all of the sale items are now gathered in the garden shop, and it actually labels them as being on sale with a timeline. Great!
The new clothes are all so cute! There were no additional clothes other than the ones already sighted in the stadium earlier this week.
There are lots of delicious Scandinavian treats as “This Week Special” items in the food store, along with a bunch of colorful cupcakes, which will stick around even after the week is over. Our pets can even take shots of fruit syrups now. The herring and rye bread and new potatoes are making me hungry. Yum!
In both the DIY and furniture stores, there are new candy and chocolate furniture pieces, including shelves (made out of pocky sticks!), a biscuit table, gingerbread door, and a chocolate floor. I guess these pieces could all be used with the gingerbread window and wallpaper that came out a few weeks ago to make a complete gingerbread room. There’s also a neat looking ocean floor, which has an effect of walking in puddles as your pet walks across it (see below).
Also in the furniture store are saucers! There’s also a silver cake rack to display all the cupcakes from the food shop on. Both will be great for displaying food!
The Luxury shop has a pretty midsummer pole and a neat swing. The swing doesn’t actually swing, and your pet will just sit on it like any other chair.
It’ll be an expensive week for my pet with all of these wonderful items!
Pet Society Sales June 21, 2009
A few pet society prices are drastically lowered right now. A similar event happened a few months ago when the developers were performing an economics experiment on the users, and the prices of a few items fluctuated dramatically.
Here are the items with lower prices right now:
Picnic basket in the furniture store – Originally was 700 coins, currently priced at 350 coins
In the luxury store, the Gas BBQ Grill and the Elegant Swing Set are both on sale at half price. Both items currently have lower prices than the price limit for items in the luxury store. Luxury items are normally equal to or greater than 2500 coins.
Gas BBQ Grill – Originally was 2500 coins, currently priced at 1250 coins
Elegant Swing Seat – Originally was 3000 coins, currently priced at 1500 coins
In the garden shop, the white marquee is half its usual price.
White marquee: – Originally was 1200 coins, currently priced at 600 coins
There’s no note that says the following items are on sale, but they are available at markedly discounted prices right now, and I’m not sure how long it will last. All of the items fit well into the new gardens, and the picnic basket is especially nice for storing our fruits, cupcakes and vegetables. If you’ve been saving up for any of them, then you can buy them at half price right now!
Pet Society Updates and Mystery Items June 19th June 20, 2009
The mystery items were released pretty late tonight (in my time zone anyway!). Along with the new mystery items, there’s a Pet Society update. Now, during our visits to our friends pets, we’ll receive 30 coins per visit if our friend is actively playing the game, meaning the friend has played in the past 24 hours. I only have three friends who regularly play of my nine friends, so it’s not going to give me a huge gain in coins, but 30 extra coins (10 coins extra x three friends) a day isn’t bad.
Mystery Items – June 19th:
In the gold box, there’s a really cute little frog toy. I haven’t found the second gold box item yet. In the purple mystery box, there’s a checkered rug. I’ll edit this post if I find the third item sometime this weekend. Here’s a picture of the two I found so far:

Mystery Item – June 12th:
I found the two mystery items from the gold boxes last week, but I hadn’t discovered the mystery item in the purple box. Tonight, I found it. It’s a neat oval rug (below). I love that there are finally a few long rugs that can fit under the dining tables and desks now.
Last week, I also found two surf board decorations that were introduced in the purple boxes in previous weeks, so here’s a screencapture of them too. The blue wave surfboard deco (left and right) arrived in the purple mystery boxes on May 8th, and the hibiscus surfboard deco was introduced in the purple boxes on May 18th.
Stadium Sightings – June 20th June 20, 2009
Here are a few sightings of new Pet Society clothes from the stadium. Hopefully we’ll be seeing them all on Sunday!

Fishy Teaser for Pet Society June 19, 2009
Akihiro posted the following fishy teaser image in a topic on the Playfish Forums asking other members what they thought it meant. The censorship-prone moderators deleted, re-posted and then renamed Akihiro’s topic multiple times.

Pet Society Garden – Large Vegetables June 18, 2009
I was trying to grow “gigantic” vegetables, but I harvested them a bit early. Here’s a screencap of a large homegrown carrot, large homegrown beetroot, large homegrown turnip and an above average sweetheart root. They’re huge! I’m going to try again to grow gigantic vegetables. Hopefully, I’ll be patient enough not to uproot them early.
The one really bad thing about waiting longer to harvest the vegetables is that the longer you wait, the more likely the vegetable will rot. Even at the earliest stage there is a chance of harvesting a rotten veggie, but the probability goes up the longer you wait.
Pet Society Fruits and Cupcakes June 18, 2009
I wish I kept a better record of how many fruits and cupcakes I had harvested. I’m near the point where if I sold all the fruit, I would break even for my investment in buying the tree seeds.
Unfortunately, around 65% of the fruit above were harvested on June 12th, the first day that a lot of my trees produced fruits. In the days following, the trees have been far less productive. In time, the trees could provide a small income and profit, but it’s not as great as I thought it would be last week on the 12th.
Pet Society Carrots Bigger than Expresso Machines June 17, 2009
No news from my pet today, but my husband’s pet harvested a large carrot from his garden that he wanted to share with everyone. It’s taller than his pet Moco’s expresso machine!!
I’m very curious about how big the gigantic vegetables will be.
New Pet Society Items – June 14th June 15, 2009
This week our pets in Pet Society are on a tropical vacation. There are wallpapers to make a beach scene, tiki wallpapers, and sand flooring. I don’t have any free rooms, but if I did, I would try making a beach scene.
The pets are going to show some skin this week. 
My favorite new item this week is the parrot in the luxury store. I was trying to put it in front of my trees, but it always ends up behind them. Anyway, I came up with a different spot for the parrot (you can see it in the previous post). I also love the coconut drink in the food store, the titi torches and sandcastle.
Even though I didn’t have room to make a beach, I made a tropical scene in my back garden. Here’s Momo relaxing in her tropical scene:
