Since my last fishing post, I’ve been fishing and fishing in Pet Society and have found all sorts of fish as well as some other objects in the fishing pond. I’ve also noticed a few more things about how fishing works. (Note: For more info on these and newer fish, please visit Pet Society World’s Fish List.)
First, none of the items I’ve found while fishing can be given to friends as gifts. So each of us must collect our fish for ourselves.
Second, some garbage and decorative items cannot be sold, such as the seaweed, bike wheel, sea urchin, message in a bottle, empty bottle, old boot, soda can, broken pot, coral, fish bones, conch shell, and sea star baby doll. These items can be used as decorations in your pet’s home or aquarium or they can be recycled for 10 (measly) recycle points each.
Third, the fish, squid, shrimp, crab, seahorse and starfish all must be displayed inside an aquarium or stored in your chest. They cannot be displayed in a room or eaten. These sea creatures sell for 4 coins each or can be recycled for 30 recycle points each. You can only collect 5 of any of these sea creatures. If you catch more than five of the these particular fish and sea creatures, then your pet will throw the extra ones back in the fishing pond after catching it, and you will lose the bait you used to catch the sixth fish.
Fourth, there are currently 7 special fish, which may be caught using unique baits. However, it’s important to note that you won’t necessarily find a special fish every time you use these baits. Some of the special fish take many attempts to catch even when using the correct bait. Here are the special fish and the appropriate baits necessary to catch them:
applefish – 5 coin apple from the food shop
coconutfish – homegrown coconut from your garden
loverootfish – sweetheart root from your garden
puppyfish – 10o coin bone from the food shop
seahorse – 7 coin carrot from the food shop
strawberry donutfish – pink donut from the food shop
watermelonfish – 50 coin melon from the food shop
As I learn more, I’ll post about it. I’m trying to figure out the relationship between the bait and the fishes/items caught.

Puppyfish – may be caught using the 100 coin bone from the food shop as a bait
Seahorse - may be caught using the 7 coin carrot from the food shop as the bait
Strawberry Donutfish – may be caught using the pink donut from the food store
Watermelonfish – may be caught using the 50 coin melon from the food store as a bait

I used a 100 coin bone to get a puppy fish and I only got a starfish. Have you been testing it out more than once to see what the chances are?
I posted somewhere else that I think it’s like winning the lottery and the more expensive food you use, the more likely you are to get a fish. Maybe using the 100 coin white bone gives you a likely CHANCE of getting a puppyfish, but it’s not certain. I was kind of pissed for blowing away 100 coins when I don’t even spend that much on food for my pet.
Not sure if this helps, but I used the bone’s twice in a row, and got a puppyfish both times.

Well, you can use any bait to catch a starfish. They’re a lot easier. You should be glad you caught the puppyfish, it’s rare.
Hi Alex, I haven’t got to test out the probability of getting a puppyfish or coconutfish yet. It’s too bad that it’s not certain. With time, I’ll try to collect some more data. The most expensive food I tried was a 250 coin chocolate, and I got a starfish. I wasn’t impressed with that either. I wouldn’t have bought that to feed my pet either, but I wanted to test out whether I could get a special fish from it. I edited the post above so that others are clear that there isn’t a guarantee that pet’s will find special fish by using particular baits.

Actually, I used a strawberry donut (because someone on another forum said if you get a strawberry donut you get a strawberry fish) and I got seaweed. I tried it a second time and got a starfish.
Yeah, I think it is just random what you get but using certain items increases the probability of getting a certain fish. I tried another 100 coin white bone and got another damn starfish.
Also, I saw a picture on someone elses forum about all of the things you can get from fishing and there was a picture of 5 or 6 different fishing rods. Maybe when you get to new levels, you get new fishing rods just like when you get a new and better brush or soap or ball. Also, maybe getting a new and better rod increases your chances of getting more and better fish.
Yes, that’s true, but I don’t think there’s any way of getting a dogfish without using a bone as a bait, even though when you use a bone as a bait, you do not necessarily get a dogfish. So, it’s not completely random.
It’s pretty much luck. I’ve gotten a squid with cherry cheesecake once. And I used a full melon to get a starfish. Next I’m gonna try using a full pizza….

Yes, I got the loveroot fish using a below average sweetheart root as the bait.
maybe….just maybe…the more time its struggles to escape , meens its a stronger fish which leeds to a more rare fish?
I think the size of the splash is just related to the size of the object. A loaf of bread creates a bigger splash than an apple. The length of the struggle seems prety consistent to me so far.
I love the puppyfish, so cute.
But its unfair, that we can not sell/gift the corals, weeds, message bottles, etc…
I wish we could sell the extra corals, wheels, etc. too. I also wish we could collect more than 5 fish, or sell them for more money. The aquarium is expensive.

i got it. i tried for the first time and i caught it. but my aunt wasn’t as lucky. she tried for 4 times but still didn’t succeed. i guess it depends on our luck.

but using store-bought lemons is quite a tedious task. because lemons are cheap and more difficult to catch the desired fish. my sister spent a bomb just because to catch a lemon fish! xD

I think I have about 15 species of fish (including the applefish) cuz i always do apples as bait. I caught the applefish after like half an hour so i think it just comes up as random. I really really want to get the puppyfish because it is sooo cute!
Also I would do anything to get the melonfish, the strawberryfish, and the cheesefish (I don’t know the exact names.)

Used 5 of the 100 coin white bones, caught 4 Puppy Fish. Used 4 Pink Donuts caught zero Strawberry Donut Fish. Used 8 Watermelons caught zero Melonfish.
Out of 5 bones, I caught 3 puppyfishes. I also have the rest.. But still no luck at strawberryfish, melonfish and applefish.

Stacie, I used the regular 5 coin apple from the food store like I mentioned above. The pink donut is the appropriate bait for the strawberry donutfish. There are no tips to catch the applefish and strawberry donutfish except be persistent. Some of the special fish are really difficult to catch.

Hi Lauren, I don’t think the fish you mentioned have been released in the game. Some other sites have posted images of fish that no one has ever caught. The fish listed above are all the fish that can be caught currently.

hello guys….i wanted to say that u might get any fish by any kind of food as bailt…but there are a few fishes that are special…n they are puppy fish, watermelon fish, coconut fish….the sweetheart fish, sea horse, donut finsh, n apple fish…n can be caught by specific food item only…the only way to have a higher probability of catching a fish is that u b patient…as in wen the fish bites if u have noticed bubbles comes out wen its strggling…so the thing is that u do not reel until those bubbles disappear…..i guess this will help u guys a lil….wen i learnt this…i started gettin a 9/10 fishes..

Have your friends caught chocolate and cheese fish yet? I haven’t, and no one here has posted that they have, so I don’t think that it is true. Also, tree seeds can’t be used when fishing anyway.

Hi ewin, first you have to plant a tree seed from the garden store in your garden and grow a cupcake tree. The tree will grow homegrown cupcakes on it.

Hi! The first fish I EVER caught was an apple fish! Now I’m trying to get the sea horse, but I’ve used about a trillion carrots so far… I got the puppyfish on my third try, and I have a dogfish too! I also have coconutfish, bananafish, pink donutfish, squid, octopus, clownfish, blue ram, flounder, sardine, angelfish, green discus, blowfish, shrimp, bluegill, and both the starfish things!
Is there a cupcake fish (using the homegrown cupcakes?) because I’d love it if there were!

Well, I’m not sure if it was a coincidence or not, but I caught a dogfish when using a biscuit. It looks nothing like a dog, more like a shark.
I looked it up, and a dogfish is a small type of shark. I caught two with cheese and with a lemon, so I think it was a cool coincidence that you caught yours with a biscuit.

Octopus is not rare. You can catch it with all kinds of baits. I caught an octopus three times using a strawberry cupcake, tiny beetroot and an apple pie as bait.
How many tries to get a Watermelonfish/Lemonfish?
It took me 53 tries to get a lemonfish. It was hard! It took me (maybe?) 20 tries to get a watermelonfish.

Whee, like I wrote above, use a sweetheart root from your garden as the bait. Sweetheart roots are one of the five vegetables you can grow in your garden.

Seahorses can be caught with the 5 coin carrot at the food store….
I caught an Apple Fish both with homegrown and bought…..
Banana Fishes are easy to catch use a homegrown Banana I caught it on my first try….

Hi Rebecca, there aren’t any levels. There are three sets of fish that were released on different dates, but they are all available to everyone. People have posted some pictures of different clored rods, but none of them are available in the game right now except the free twig rod.

You can get one by growing a palm tree.

The fish you get depends how well you fished not the bait. if you buy food that costs like 400 points and you get your line red a lot you’ll catch something sucky.

omg i caught a puppyfish this is how i did it…
i bought a white bone from the shop and i went home and saved. remember to save. now you need to bookmark pet society. once youve saved click on the bookmark. go to the pond and throw the bone. when you get something other than the puppyfish do not click the tick button, insted click the bookmark and let playfish load. go fishing again and you may get something different. do this until you get the puppyfish. it took me 4 times to get it… dont give up hope
use a hotdog to get a dog fish and use a homegrown orange to get an orange fish

I think the food doesn’t affect the kind of food you get. You just need luck and patience to get the kind
of fish you want.
by the way, if you get some kind of fish you don’t like or garbages, just click the bookmark thingy and you will get away with that!
I strongly beleive that the type of food you fish with can change the type of fish, like i dont think you can catch a banana fish without a banana, if you do. Thats probably very unlikely. But thanks. Also I want to catch a rootheart fish or whatever its called, but does the size of the vegetable count? like if the veg is at its biggest is that when i should dtart fish for it? or when its smallest? im not sure
I don’t think the homegrown veg. size makes a difference. I caught my loverootfish with a below average size sweetheart root, but I know others here have caught the fish with roots of smaller and larger sizes.
Personally, if any more weird vegetable fish are released, I’m going to try using the tiniest vegetables first, since they are the least valuable.

My friend was just making her new pet (Wibble) while we were talking on the phone. She then asked me why the colour black wasnt availble for your pet. So I said im not sure, we didnt think about playfish being racist because in some of their other games, you have many choices of colour for your skin tones in games. Even purple! But black?Why not in pet society? I know this has nothing to do with fishing, but still i was wondering…
I don’t know why there isn’t an option to make a black pet. I wish people could. I know that someone invented a hack to create black pets, and I don’t see why that should be necessary.
I asked my mom the same question, why there might not be any option to colour your pet black, and her reason was actualy quite logical. You cant make your pet black, because the pets facial expression are black, suck as eyebrow, and noses and when it smiles, its all the same colour; black. But i still dont see why petsociety worker people:P cant have an option of making your pet black, and the facila expressions another colour suck as white or grey. Dont you agreee?
I agree. The eyebrows, eyes etc. should have alternate colors besides black too. That would be the best solution, and people could have black pets if they wanted.

I got the puppyfish after my 2nd try!! I still can’t get the donut & chocolate fish and I’ve wasted probably about 2000 coins on those baits!! (>__>) does anyone know why? Does it even exist in my POND!? Also, I tried to catch the kangaroo fish with the only snack wrap I had but I caught a broken wheel! I got so mad! I guess it takes about 50 tries to get the fish you really want. It took me 13 tries to get the cheese fish luckily they are only 10 coins each.
I really want the exclusive pastry fish and the bait you use is the 300 coin pastry from the food shop, but I got the clown fish! Wtf? Plus I used the expensive cake for the “Ace of hearts” fish but it didn’t work!
