A number of people posted comments today that they were sad that Pet Society blocked the mystery box refresh trick. The trick involved sending/receiving mystery boxes as gifts and refreshing until you found a worthwhile item. Unfortunately, the trick doesn’t work anymore, and the item stays the same no matter how many times you gift the box. I was wondering how people felt about this? Are you sad, happy, do you not care? Had you ever used the trick? Was this one of your methods for earning coins in the game? Please feel free to make any comments.

I discovered the glitch by accident, and before I did, my rooms were bare. The glitch allowed me to decorate my rooms, and I was so proud that I posted an album which enticed another friend to join. I usually only get 50 or 100 coins a day.
I don’t know how I’m going to make money now. Out of 600 friends on facebook, I only have 6 people playing. (I don’t add strangers). I’m terrible at the races.
So instead of checking PS several times a day, to trade boxes and such, I will only be logging on once a day to get my coins. Maybe if I’m lucky, I can save some up by Christmas.
P.S. Does anyone know if I don’t log in for one day, will i still get the coins the next day? (I.E. two envelopes instead of one.)

This helped me A LOT to get 999s, so I could use them to get my cash items (70 GMBs, 70x999s) and lots of NIS stuff. My earnings also went from 1.5K/day to 5K/day. Guess I’ll jut have to stick with selling NIS and visiting friends again. Sigh =(

still… it’s very sad… what will i do for money now? i just have very few friends playing (and they don’t even play often)… and races are way too much time consuming, plus, there is no guarantee you’ll win always.

I think this is all part of a plan to increase Playfish’s earnings through payments and trial offers by making it harder to get coins. From what I’ve read, the trees used to produce a lot more fruit than they currently do (I am lucky to get 1 fruit a day out of 7 trees). It seems like they started producing less right around when the stadium opened, but I digress -_- The items are all overpriced and often enough they disappear within a week, leaving people scrambling to earn enough points to buy them in time. Then there’s that there has been more activity in the cash shop with Halloween only items and promo gifts for purchasing points. It’s all just getting pretty ridiculous.

Nah, I read the forums wrong, but thanks for fixing my logic, hehe ^_^;; The point is that it seems like Playfish is taking away both legitimate and illegitimate ways of earning coins, leaving few options for getting any at all.
LOL, I never knew that this is how it worked!! I read something about a mystery box refresh glitch, but I did it with mystery boxes I bought. It NEVER worked, so I gave up after about 3 or 4 times. I actually thought they got rid of it a long time ago!
Actually, I’m confused. I just saw someone mention doing it with boxes they bought. Don’t know why it didn’t work for me, but I always got the same thing after a refresh that I got before!
“refeshing’the items in the boxes means: you buy the MB, you open it, it’s a cheap item. Without saving the game, you refresh the page. You will have the mistery box with the same cheap item. Without opening it, you gift it to a friend, and that will make the item inside the MB change. People used to exchange mB back and forth until they either got a 999 item or the item they were looking for.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible anymore, because now, when you gift the MB, the item inside it will remain the same (that’s why it didn’t work for you)
24 hours ago I had 50,000 coins saved (half of them I earned by regifting). Today, after trying all morning to find the new mistery items, my savings dropped to less than 30,000, and I still can’t find the ghost =/
Playfish should leave those little loopholes in the game to keep it interesting. this will probably end up in a huge cheat-boom.
I KNOW!! I tried to find the Bloody Bunny! I took me 4289 coins before I found one (and that’s 136 boxes right there) Still tried to find the ghost but money is running low…sux

Playfish shd realise that MB trick is one of the way that ENTICE pple to play pet soc. otherwise its ridiculous to garner coins by visiting your frens pets,telling them jokes etc. They have nothing to lose if they “ignore” this little trick cos pple actually “patronise” their game. (By the way this trick process is painfully tedious n time consumming too!) They shd try to get sponsors/advertisers cos they can boost that their web game has high traffic flow or audiences, as a way to up their income. HOwever, with the ban on MB trick, i m sure the “traffic” to pet soc will decrease cos how r we going to get so much instant coins to buy the things we desire in the game within a week?!! SO get real Playfish. Even playing your game using those tricks, we r actually sitting in front of the computer n looking at your web page for hours cos we know we r getting sure wins at the end of the day… BUT now…I think it is better for me to play FARMTOWN, BEJEWELED..cos high scores are guaranteed.

I never knew about this glitch!!! Wish I had known before it was taken away. I only have 6 friends and it is difficult to earn coins however I did get quite a few 999 items along with the duds. LOL

Yes this works. If you turn your internet off before you buy a MB, you can open it and then keep if if it’s something good or turn on your internet and refresh and then rinse/repeat. That’s how I’ve been doing it because I don’t have a friend who will trade with me. It’s essentially the exact same trick, minus the trade between friends.

I happen to find out its not working anymore just right after the maintenance and I’m really pissed off with PAYFISH right now. The mystery box trick helped me and my friends (or some of you, for that matter, who knows the trick) to earn coins and get those items we like. I am very sure this will SURELY make a DRASTIC CHANGE in the gameplay.. either PAYFISH will lose most of their players or more cheats will come out soon.
Dont worry!!! I may have found a solution… I just dont know if it will work on every computer because I have a 2003 Windows internet explorer… computer… thing. But it works for me right now and I’m making money again

Just do the following: Click File, work offline and buy the box. Open the box, if it’s good, work online, if it’s bad, close the game, go back online and buy another box!

Exactly! The races can only give you 300 coins at the max and thats the only income or some! Not everyone has lots of friends on Pet Societly,or the time to run around the neighbourhood to get 5 coins or less everytime they do. What were doing isnt even cheating really. And some of us just want to collect ceratin items! I dont see why thats such a bad thing when a game like Pet Society has no productive way of making money. Even Yoville is a more fairer game with the way it distributes its coins!!

Playfish is so greedy! Look at all thier games. Can you name me a playfish game without the money function (other than quizstatic as not many ppl would play it)? Now i would have to socialize. What i hate more is this: 1-49 Friend: 20 Inactive, 50-75 10 Inactive and 5 coins after that… no choice…
i think i will stick back to my old method: making duplicate accounts. 2 in 1 money package! Visiting fee+ Base 2500 Coins+ Tutourial Coins+ House Coins+ Go to that account daily 2get lottery+visit friend. =)
I think it is GOOD that they took that glitch out. That isn’t how the game should work.
That completely takes the fun out of it.
And to those who complain that they only have a few friends, well I’m in the same boat, I only have 6 friends, and I used to suck at the races, but give it time and practice and you will get better.
Also, from my experience, 1/4 of the mystery boxes are 999 or at least 499+. If I sold every box I got. I would have around 20k rather then the 6k I have now due to keeping lots of items
The point of the game is to EARN things. If you are cheating the system than that makes the game unfair to those who actually play honestly.
and PS if people are willing to cheat to get FAKE money on a game, what deos that say about your personality??
After all its JUST A GAME. It has no affect on your life at all.
It may not affect our life but really, whether you accept this or not — getting 999/rare items in mystery boxes is what keeps people playing pet society and because playfish fixed this “glitch” there’ll be a significant decrease in players. Believe me, I don’t mind if they fix it but are there any of you willing to waste your hard-earned coins on a GMB only to find out it’s a junk item? Items that can be bought on the shop. I mean, c’mon, that sucks. They should remove this junk items and maximize the possibility that you’ll get a 999 item. I already read a lot of complaints from players on their official forums and most of them are willing to quit this game.
Frankly, I always have played the game fairly, and for me, the chance of getting something good is worth the risk. that is the point of the mystery boxes..to take a risk to get something worthwhile. If people are willing to quit the game just because the makers fixed a problem with the game, then first of all thats just flat out immature, and second, they aren’t real fans anyway. Thats their choice to quit, but its pathetic.

By the way wearing a red cockscomb on his head! jajajajajaja. but I could not take photo .. I blocked the connection and when I went to make a picture … was no longer in the house where I saw it … too bad …

I actually have found a loophole in the new rule. You enter PS, and put your browser in the “work offline” mode. Buy the mystery pack and open it. If its not what you want, just refresh the page, recconect to the internet, and repeat!
Thank you for the tip around the “glitch fix”. Doing the offline thing and refreshing if you don’t like your box really works! I can now resume my search for the new stuff!
Guys! Don’t worry, I accidentally found a “bug” that could be similar with the Refresh trick. Did you know that pet society stills run at offline mode? But it doesn’t save, So the idea is to turn the browser offline and buy GMB, if the item you like is in it, simply turn it online, but if not, simply refresh the tab and click the online, resulting that you still have the money NOT the MYSTERY BOX! Get it?! Please credit to me!

I just took a picture of the dolls in my house.
The glitch workaround worked with IE 7 for a few turns, then it became impossible to close the tab or the browser without invoking the Windows task manager. So far, no such problems with Opera, other than a dialogue box appearing every time I go off-line. Went from 200 coins to 2200 in fifteen minutes!
I don’t think that fixing the glitch is a big deal. I’ve never used it, I don’t buy coins, but I have a lot of nice items from mystery boxes. Most of what I get from mystery boxes is bad, but it’s a gamble. I’ve also been able to get things I want through trading. But…that said, I think I’m going to try that work offline thing

i had 11,000 coins last week and i bought 16 gold mystery boxes. First try i got Black Kitty Plushie, on the second try i got a Barrell Hat, of course i dont need the Barrell Hat (LOL) so i tick the Refresh Button immediately then on the 3rd try sheesh its the Barrell Hat again!?! Omg whats goin on with Playfish? and thinking the coins that i spent buying gmbs.. Geeez my 8,000 coins were gone T_T. In 16 gmbs i bought, i only got 2 Rare Items (Nuclear Rug and Black Kitty Plushie)
Now, i only visit my Pet to get my Daily Lottery coins, then Log off. i dont want to visit my neighbors cuz i have 106 neighbors LOL, it’s annoying and i’m lazy to give ‘em hugs and kisses all of them.
If i were the Mayor, i will return all the glitches back. Especially in Mystery Boxes. Mayor removed all the Thrill and the Excitement we feel every time we open those mystery boxes. and That’s not HACK cuz we don’t use Cheat Engine on it, it’s a kind of TECHNIQUE on how to earn coins!!

I love “cheating” at this, well, let’s be honest, “child’s game.” I use the coins to send my nieces, mom, and girlfriend gifts–now, what’s more important? Making 4 people in my life happy, or playing the kid’s game without cheating? hahaha lol
Anyway, if you are tired of wasting hours to get 400 coins, check out PATINIOX’s blog…you will find ways to make 100,000′s of coins!! And remember, as the Pet Society creators even say, “The point of the game is to have fun!” So, happy “cheating!” lol
PS-Pet Society WANTS people to cheat…otherwise they would have deleted those who have…and not ONE person has been deleted. Think about it, it increases the popularity of the game, which increase the chance of people SPENDING MONEY…like for BLUE COINS—I’m one step away from laying down $20 for some playfish cash!

Refreshing was the most effective way to make money but now it’s gone. I’m not sad, just mad. Is there any other way to make quick money besides using cheat engine?
NOPE. And this is my point…people will actually begin to stop playing, because purchasing that cool item will take a calculated several hours…not cool. Other blogs are calling the creators of Pet Society greedy son of a ……., but I just say, thanks Patiniox for your computer voodo that allows us to do what we want to do…like get some GOLD AND RAINBOW POO!!
