New Pet Society mystery items were released today.
A mini festive tree decor and a mini snowman decor were added to the gold boxes, and a pine cone wall decor was added to the purple boxes. Momo found a mini festive tree and placed it on her window sill (below). I’m still searching for the other items and will update this post later when I find them.

This is probably a strange Pet Society glitch, but the aquilegia flowers now appear as snowflake flowers. Enjoy them while they last. I’m guessing snowflake flowers were supposed to be a new flower released this week and the images got mixed up. They sure are pretty. 
Another strange glitch is that we can’t hand our pet’s food and soap right now. I’m not sure what happened there either.
Updated to add: the aquilegia flowers have gone back to their original form. I’m going to try planting some seeds to see if I can grow a genuine snowflake flower from scratch.
Today, a new lottery was introduced in Pet Society. Here are details on the update from the Mayor:
Momo spun the lottery wheel (she felt like she was on the game show Wheel of Fortune), and she still only got 50 coins. At least it wasn’t 10 or 25 coins though! Yikes, I didn’t think my chances could get worse. haha.
The frame the game is set in is also updated with links to all of the other Playfish games.

A snowy winter has arrived in Pet Society. Here’s Pet Society’s cute winter logo (apparently the game is still in beta even though they forgot the beta tag and this is being corrected):
When you log in today, the neighborhood will be snow-covered.
Momo was so thrilled that after she had her breakfast, she went for a walk around town (she didn’t even wait to put on her sweater, naughty pet!). She loves the cute snowmen and snowy trees. The fishing pond isn’t frozen over yet. Lucky us! That means we can still go fishing.

I may have caused some confusion by posting a picture of my Christmas tree in the Christmas Countdown Calendar topic. My tree is from last year (2008), and no tree has been released yet (as of December 4, 2009) in Pet Society this year.
Here’s my 2008 tree that I’ve been decorating.
I feel sure that a tree will be released soon this year, and probably they’ll be even prettier than last year’s. I don’t think that there is any way Pet Society would fail to give new players Christmas trees when the gifts from the Christmas Countdown calendars have only been ornaments so far. They’ll have to give us a place to put all the ornaments. I’m guessing that we’ll see trees in the stores on with this week’s Monday (GMT) releases. So everyone who’s waiting for a tree will hopefully only have to wait a few more days.
As a side note, a few people have asked if the pine trees that can be grown in the garden can be decorated. A friend of mine tested this out for me, since I don’t have a pine tree. She told me that all the ornaments fall off the garden pine trees onto the ground. Here’s a screencap:
