New Pet Society Festive Fish: Festive Cookie Fish and Festivefish (Release 19) December 17, 2009

New festive fishes were released in the Pet Society fishing pond today.  Both fish are special fish, which can be caught using holiday foods as the baits.

Momo caught a festive cookiefish with a mini festive cake:

There’s also a new festivefish.  Momo has been trying unsuccessfully to catch on this evening, but luckily the super fisherman Harrison contributed a picture of it to the Pet Society World Flickr group to share it with all of us.  Thanks Harrison!

Cooking Seasonal Foods in Pet Society December 17, 2009

Today, new features were added to the cooking feature.  Playfish says that some bugs have been fixed (hopefully this means my game won’t crash all the time when I’m collecting my cooked foods). Additionally, we can now cook three new seasonal recipes.  According to We must learn these seasonal recipes during the next 18 days, and once we have learned the recipes, we will be able to cook the foods at any time.

For 100 coins you can learn to cook a festive turkey, and for 500 coins you can learn to cook a festive yule log. There’s also an option to cook a festive pudding, which Momo hasn’t managed to unlock yet.  It’s not clear how much my poor pet will have to cook to unlock the pudding, and Momo is really getting tired of cooking soup. Both the festive yule log and festive pudding look very similar to items sold in the food shop last year.  So yummy!

Forcing Invites – Pet Society Update – December 17th December 17, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — Pet Society Girl @ 2:03 pm

There are now new messages in our friend lists on the bottom of the screen asking us to invite non-Pet Society friends to play the game.

They read:

“Ask <insert friend’s name> to move to your village!”

There are already multiple ways to invite friends, including the blue invite button on the left sidebar, the green invite button over our friend lists, the empty houses in the neighborhood, the empty houses at the end of the friend lists.  As if we need another reminder! I imagine that a lot of accidental invites are going to be sent out when doing our regular visits.  None of my non-playing friends want to play, so why should I be forced to see this? :(

Updated to add: A friend of mine who has no friends that don’t play Pet Society gets the message too. Her message says “bob hasn’t accpeted [sic] a pet yet.”

Embarrassing typo aside, my friend doesn’t even know a Bob.  What an irritating update.

Pet Society Holiday Tree Ornament Mystery Eggs – Updated December 17, 2009

The holiday tree ornament mystery egg machine was updated on Sunday. The machine is located in the garden shop in Pet Society.  The Holiday Tree Ornament mystery eggs and their contents are giftable.  Each egg costs 200 coins. The eggs are “holiday special” items, and they are available for purchase until December 27, 2009.

On Sunday, a note was added to the machine reading “more decorations added!”  At the time, this note was actually false, and many players bought eggs, which turned out to be the old eggs.  Playfish sorted this out and added the new decorations to the mix the next day.  In the bustle of buying snowman and cute clothes, I luckily missed this update until the problem was already fixed and the new items were actually released.

Here’s a picture of the original 15 ornaments that have been available since December 6th:

Here is the second set of 21 decorations that was added on December 13th:

You’ll notice that the labels of the red and blue star bows are reversed.  It’s reminiscent of the mistake in mislabeling the pink and yellow rose and pink and red rose bunches last Valentines Day.  Even after nearly a year these items are still mislabeled.

I wish the ornaments were all released at the same time.  I spent quite a while finding the new ornaments, and got a lot of duplicates from the first set while looking for ornaments in the second set.

Do you like the new ornaments?  Which set of ornaments do you prefer?  Do you have a color theme when you decorate your tree?
