The Pet Society orange cupcake used to take a full day of slaving in the kitchen to bake, but with today’s update, it’ll only take you an hour! Much more realistic.

New Pet Society Items – December 20th December 21, 2009
New items were added to the Pet Society shops today. Remember that all of the items labeled “Holiday Special” will be available until December 27th (GMT). There are also new gingerbread-themed items.
In the DIY store, the just arrived items are a classic gingerbread wallpaper and floor. The “holiday special” items are a festive gingerbread door and window.
In the clothing shop, there is a festive gingerbread dress with matching shoes, and a festive gingerbread shirt, pants and boots. All of these news clothes are all “holiday special” items.
In the food shop, there are giant green, red, yellow and pink gumdrops. They are all “holiday special” items.
There’s also a new giant candy that has “just arrived” in the food shop. I would have missed it if not for comments by Vanessa Anne and Oscar. Thanks for your help you two!

The furniture shop there’s are two “just arrived items,” a gingerbread chair and table. There are also new “holiday special” items, including a festive North Pole sign, cute mistletoe decor (yay!), a silver Santa’s throne, a gingerbread plushie (delectably cute!), a festive gingerbread teapot, and a festive gingerbread side table.
In the luxury shop, there’s a gingerbread sofa and bed as the “just arrived” items. A silver Santa’s sleigh is the new “holiday special.”

In the mystery shop, there’s a gingerbread pet potion and a white wing potion. Have any of you tried either of them?

In the gadget shop, there’s a gingerbread pole (just arrived) and a festive gingerbread lamp (holiday special)
What do you think of this week’s items? Are you planning to build a gingerbread house?
Poll: Is Cooking More Fun in Real Life or in Pet Society? December 19, 2009
According to the recipe book, there are now 16 days left to learn the festive pudding recipe. Momo’s been cooking soup like crazy to earn enough cooking points to unlock the recipe. I wasn’t even sure how many dishes she needed to cook, since the recipe book is very unclear. Luckily, Sfelaccio commented that the festive pudding unlocks at the same level as the banana split (the kitchen porter level). Thanks for the help Sfelaccio!
Unfortunately, Momo’s not the best cook, even when preparing soup. She’s managed to burn six dishes so far. Yucky! The burned food looks like poo. Ewww!

Cooking in Pet Society is nice in a way because you don’t have to monitor the oven as it cooks. However, cooking soup all the time is feeling more like a chore than a fun activity. Plus, you don’t get to eat the food you cook, which is probably the most fun part about cooking. Momo can eat her cyber-pixel food, but this week I’ve been enjoying an orange cranberry loaf and ginger cookies. I think Momo is missing out.

What do you think, is cooking more fun in real life or in Pet Society? Do you like cooking in real life? Do you like cooking in Pet Society?
Pet Society Mystery Items – December 17th December 18, 2009
New Pet Society mystery items were released yesterday.
A gingerbread stocking (re-sale 333 coins) and Santa Mayor picture (re-sale 999 coins) were added to the gold boxes, and a red holly candle was added to the purple boxes. I found the two from the gold boxes so far. The Santa Mayor picture has awful layering issues. It goes in front of nearly everything instead of staying against the wall.
You can see the candle at Pet Society Mystery.

New Pet Society Festive Fish: Festive Cookie Fish and Festivefish (Release 19) December 17, 2009
New festive fishes were released in the Pet Society fishing pond today. Both fish are special fish, which can be caught using holiday foods as the baits.
Momo caught a festive cookiefish with a mini festive cake:

There’s also a new festivefish. Momo has been trying unsuccessfully to catch on this evening, but luckily the super fisherman Harrison contributed a picture of it to the Pet Society World Flickr group to share it with all of us. Thanks Harrison!

Cooking Seasonal Foods in Pet Society December 17, 2009
Today, new features were added to the cooking feature. Playfish says that some bugs have been fixed (hopefully this means my game won’t crash all the time when I’m collecting my cooked foods). Additionally, we can now cook three new seasonal recipes. According to We must learn these seasonal recipes during the next 18 days, and once we have learned the recipes, we will be able to cook the foods at any time.
For 100 coins you can learn to cook a festive turkey, and for 500 coins you can learn to cook a festive yule log. There’s also an option to cook a festive pudding, which Momo hasn’t managed to unlock yet. It’s not clear how much my poor pet will have to cook to unlock the pudding, and Momo is really getting tired of cooking soup. Both the festive yule log and festive pudding look very similar to items sold in the food shop last year. So yummy!
