Yesterday when I logged into Pet Society, I received the following note from the Mayor along with 3,000 coins. I was hoping Pet Society would finally be out of “beta,” but the “Pet Society Beta” title is still on the game. I wonder if it will ever be out of beta.
The redesign includes many alterations. As you can see in the screencap below, the playing screen is substantially larger, since the ads for other playfish games are now placed above the game screen rather than on the left side of the screen.
There are far less icons on the playing screen. All of the blue “settings” icons on the right side can be minimized or expanded. The icons are more colorful and glossy than the old ones. The Paw Point display has been changed. At each level, the number of paw points returns to zero, and the total displayed is only the number of points you’ve earned in your current level. The health bar is located on the top of the screen rather than on the side. The house room navigation is located on the bottom right corner rather than the top right corner.
If you click the door icon in your house, then you’ll see the shops in town. The shops have new looks too, which remind me of the board game Candyland. If you click on “Friend Street,” then you can view the old neighborhood with trees to bump into for coins (but minus the shops).
When your pet visits its friends, the action icons also have a new look. It no longer matters if your friends are actively playing Pet Society or not. Each visit will earn your pet 35 coins for your first 50 visits each day, 20 coins for the next 25 visits, and 15 coins for each visit thereafter.
Our pets no longer have happiness or hygiene bars. Happiness is no longer a factor in the game, so we can not earn coins and paw points for caring for pets anymore. Although the hygiene bar is gone, flies serve as a measurement of how dirty a pet is. Really filthy pets will have a five flies buzzing around them instead of the old maximum of two flies (see below). You can still earn coins for cleaning pets. For each fly you wash away, you will earn 20 coins. You can earn a maximum of 80 coins and 4 paw points per pet. When the pet is fully clean, you’ll see a message that says “All Clean!”
The inventory and wardrobe chest now have the option to view all items or view items by categories.

The book icon expands to reveal the tutorial book, cookbook and sticker book.
When you receive gifts and messages, they will appear on a notice board, which allows you to open and read them very quickly. You can also open them the old way with your pet.
I really like the larger playing view and the fact that the icons are mainly off the screen. I’m not used to the glossy new icons and the new shop buildings yet, but they are pretty cute. I like that there are less confirmation screens, and if you click the home icon, you actually go straight home. That will save some time. I’ll miss brushing pets for coins..I guess the brush is pointless now.
Things look ok for me, but my husband plays on a Mac, and his Pet Society screen is a disaster. He can’t even see the right side of the playing screen:

It’s hard to get used to all the changes.
It remindes me of why I don’t play pet world-ville or whatever zynga’s pet society rip-off is… the “All Clean” and new layout reminde me of that. I miss the old layout minus the bigger screen size
I didn’t know the “All Clean” was copied from Petville. I have stuck with Pet Society so far.
There are something that I don’t really like, like the new buildings… it does look like Candy Land XD

I realllllly hate the new pet society! it seems really busy and confusing! I and i earned most of my coins by brushing and cleaning pets so now i cant even brush them, and i also they dont have a little bar on the sdie to tell you if they are clean. it looks like pet society is tring to be like petville, which i hate.
I’m going to miss the coins I earned from brushing too.
Come to think of it, it IS getting to sort of be like Petville. Anyone who has played Petville before will understand.
I don’t like that my pet has a fly buzzing around her first thing every morning. I don’t like that she now walks out of sight. The screen used to move along with her automatically. I can’t find the category for doors and windows, so I end up with “all” after looking through everything else when I get one in a mystery box. Am I missing something? I do like that the pets are already standing next to each other when I give hugs, so she doesn’t take time slowly walking across every room.
I don’t like the flies either. I don’t think the doors and wallpapers appear in any of the categories. You’re right that the only way to find them is to go through all the pages. An alternative is typing “door” in the search field. I wish there was a door/wallpaper category. I didn’t notice that the pets are close to one another when entering friend’s houses. That will save time during visits.
I think they’re in the “Furniture” section. Unforgenetly, nothing goes in the “Furniture” section. You have to look in “All”. The same goes true for mystery boxes.
Me too PSG. Both Windows and Mac have the same problem. If you’re using the full screen a.k.a esc button the right screen will be cut off (seems to me more error) so we can’t see the right side of the screen (where the save button and features are)… I hope PF fixed this bug. For me the new look is cool to me, more simple, more colourful and yes 3.000 coins worth the advertising fee for me. hehehehehhehehe

Hello, for those who are having trouble seeing the right hand side of PS on your mac, try playing with the command+plus or minus.
it works fine on my imac, but not on my macbookpro…

The thing I will miss the most is the experience I got from washing and brushing pets. They make it really hard now to get experience. It will take forever just to level up now…

I like it, it’s somewhat more organized! But… Here are the things I don’t like:
> We can’t see the Happiness & Hygiene bars
> We don’t get coins for brushing your Pet or anyone else’s
> They lowered our points; I was in the 94, 000′ s and now I’m down into the 11, 000′ s
> We don’t get as much points for caring for other pets
> They removed the (<>) buttons, now it’s just the () buttons.
and last but not least:
> Everything that I consider furniture doesn’t go in the “furniture” button in the Chest.
Ex: I consider my Fireplace and my X-mas tree to be “furniture, but they’re not in the “furniture” section!
But other than those 6 problems, I think Pet Society looks better and is more organized!
I wish the furniture tab held more items too. And I wish there was a wallpaper/flooring tab.

If it does it again, what I mean is they removed the “fast-forward” buttons in the stores and now it’s just the single arrow buttons to look through the stores!!!!
Oh! AND! The Globe icon & the House icon is gone!
I miss the house icon the most.

Some questions here:
1. How did you open the notice board? I tried clicking on the small envelope icon near the top left of the screen but nothing happens. I tried clicking all the places that I possibly can in order to call up the notice board thing but to no avail. I wonder why.
2. By the “Home icon” you’re referring to the icon in the town map with other shops right? This means that the quickest way to get home is by first clicking Leave House, then click on Home icon?

Sorry, please ignore Question 1. I noticed that the noticeboard icon only appears when there is GIFT or NOTE from friends and will disappear after opening them. I thought that it’s a permanent mailbox kinda function like in Restaurant City but I was mistaken.

Hi Yvonne, for your second question, yes, I meant the icon on the map. I guess you can always click your pet in the friend list on the bottom of the screen to get home too. I think that previously, a screen would come up that asked you if you wanted to go home (and also when you visited friends) and you had to click the check box. I thought those extra screens wasted time.
personally i hate the new look i just like the new camera, and that you are close to your friends when you visit (hug) other than that, i HATE it!!!!
it was already hard to make money 140 coins per person, now only 80 max how do you make money?
I wish they didn’t take away the coins for brushing.

I don’t like the changes. The biggest reason is that the graphics are too complicated and over-detailed. I was used to all the simple and pretty icons, shops, etc. The new ones are very confusing.
Another main reason is that the “faster-moving icon” in the shops are removed. We can only scroll slowly now…
I hope PF will modify some of the changes to suit players’ opinion.

I think it’s unfair the brush is useless now, and they’re going to give me a new brush when I get to level 32! they should update the level prizes too.
I liked the “to visit” option to visit my friends, so I wouldn’t have to be clicking the next arrow.

I had the same issue your husband had but I’m on Windows. I only got “in trouble” when I decided to go full-screen. First my game area changed to look like your husband’s (right side cut off) for a few seconds before it went full screen. When I went back to normal screen by hitting Esc, it went back to looking like your husband’s screen with no right side visible! I had to refresh and start a new gaming session. Annoying. Does your husband usually play full screen? Maybe it’s related to that.
No, he never plays full screen. The problem sounds the same, but I guess the same issue has at least two causes.

You could buy some of the movie items from the furniture and luxury stores. The luminous film camera is on sale in luxury for the next week, and the luminous film print is on sale in the furniture store until Sun..

I Don’t like it that much but its OK… I just hate that it looks like Petville.. and People forget about the brush its more easy now.. At first you were given 10 coins . 10 for Brushing and 10 For Cleaning. Now You get 20 coins just for cleaning so its the same just only one simple step. Oooh And I LOVE that now we get 50 coins for visiting
The 50 coins for visiting are great!
I wish the brush had a purpose too.
