Today, two new items were added for us to send as free gifts to our friends in Pet Society, the Bear Princess Plushie and the Pug Plushie.

When your pet is in his or her garden, you’ll notice a new meerkat icon on the left of the screen. If you click it, the following window will appear:

The new feature is a meerkat auto-harvest service that costs 4 Playfish Cash and lasts for seven days.  The service doesn’t make any sense to me, since growing a gigantic vegetable takes nine full days.  What do you think of this new feature?

Along the same theme as the non-playable instruments, are there other items you think should be interactive in Pet Society?

Two of the ones that stand out most to me are the groovy radio decor and groovy tv decor. Although they are both labeled as “decor” items, I don’t understand why they aren’t interactive when all the other radios (and boom boxes) and tvs in Pet Society are.

Which other items can you think of that should be interactive?

Pet Society Useless vs. Playable Instruments May 18, 2010

It’s so much fun when items in Pet Society are interactive. Pet Society’s released a lot of fun, playable instruments like the colorful guitar, red electric guitar, guitarra Portuguesa, Inca panpipes, and trumpet.

I get really disappointed when instruments have no function, like the new shiny red rock guitar and keyboard, which players buy assuming they’ll be interactive.  Neither have a function, and they’re just decorative. Many other instruments have no function, but at least were labeled “deco” or “decor,” to make it clear they they aren’t playable, like the bagpipes decor, baby tambourine decor, maraca decor, and rattle drum deco. I think the new guitars should have the same type of label, since they serve no function.

Which instruments do you and your pet like better?  Are there other instruments that you wish were interactive?

Pet Society Sakura Tree May 12, 2010

The Pet Society Sakura Tree was released a few weeks ago. You have a chance of growing the sakura tree from the regular tree seeds in the garden shop.  After seeing the pretty tree in pictures posted in the Pet Society World Flickr Group, Momo and I decided to uproot a couple trees and try growing one.  Luckily, we grew one this week.  Isn’t it pretty!

There was a homegrown cherry flavoured riceball on it today.

These treats sell for 85 coins apiece.

I was hoping my second tree would turn out to be a papaya tree, but grew into was an apple tree.

Have any of you grown to new trees?

Pet Society’s Limited Edition Solid Gold Teddy is Sold Out May 10, 2010

The Solid Gold Teddy was introduced in the Pet Society market as a new limited edition item last night.  Only 50,000 teddies were available for 5,000 coins apiece.  Each player could only buy one solid gold teddy per day. Momo and I were lucky to buy one last night, but this morning they were sold out.  I don’t think it’s fair that they’re gone in less than a day considering that not everyone lives in a time zone where shopping at midnight GMT is convenient.  Many players were at school or work, and the teddies were sold out before they even got home.

Did you have a chance to buy the solid gold teddy?  If not, did you want one?
