Two new items added to the Win of Lose boxes in the Pet Society mystery shop. The new items are the Black Lace Eye Patch and the Sweet Pink Eye Patch.

Both eye patches are really girlish and don’t quite cover Momo’s eye.  Too bad there isn’t a new item for the neglected boy pets.

Have you found the new win or lose items?

The Pet Society treasure hunting feature was updated today with new “weekly” item at the “Town Forest” digging site.  The new item is the Happy Monkey Hat.

You may have already found this new item if you experienced a digging glitch last week. Check your clothing inventory for the “Happy Monkey Plushie” to see if you found it already.

Yesterday, Pet Society added three chocolate boxes to the food shop. Each box costs 550 coins and contains a set of seven chocolates. Each box gives out one chocolate per day for a week. The three boxes have the same set of chocolates inside them. You have to log in each day to receive them all, and you’ll see the message on your noticeboard.

Day 1 – Layered Chocolate Delight
Day 2 – Chocolate Pyramid
Day 3 – Milk Chocolate Flower
Day 4 – Strawberry Chocolate Passion
Day 5 – White Drop Chocolate
Day 6 – Chocolate Butterfly
Day 7 – Chocolate Rose

Did your pet buy a chocolate box?

Pet Society Treasure Hunting Update – July 19th July 19, 2010

The Pet Society treasure hunting feature was updated today with new “weekly” item at the “town forest” digging site.  The new item is the Gretel Bear.  The Gretel Bear was supposed to have been released last week, but Playfish mistakenly did not add the item to the game.  This mistake was causing glitches (pets were stuck digging forever), and no one had reported finding the new Gretel Bear.  Happily, Playfish has now corrected the mistake, and we can now find the Gretel Bear in the town forest.

Momo is posing with her Hansel and Gretel bears in the picture below.

Have you dug up a Gretel Bear?

Pet Society Ice Cream Stand July 18, 2010

There’s a new ice cream stand in the Pet Society food shop and outdoor store today. This “just arrived” item costs 2,000 coins.  As with the cold drinks vending machine, if you buy one, then you can purchase ice cream from your stand. Alternatively, if you have a friend with a stand, then you can buy ice cream from their stand.  Each ice cream costs 80 coins. You might notice that the cost of the stand and items both went up a lot from the cold drinks vending machine prices where the machine was 900 coins, and each drink was 50 coins.

There are six different ice creams available from the stand (a smaller selection that the cold drinks vending machine), and your purchase will give you a random item.  The ice creams go directly into your inventory chest, so the best way to find out which ice cream you bought is to type “ice cream”  or “sorbet” in the search field inside the inventory chest. The five ice creams have little kittens on them, but the sorbet doesn’t. Here are pictures of Momo’s ice cream stand and the six ice creams and sorbets she’s purchased from it:

Here’s a list of the six available ice creams:
Fruity Ice Cream Cone
Ultimate Ice Cream Cup
Ice Cream Cookie
Cookies and Cream Ice Cream Cone
Tropical Ice Cream Cone
Sorbet Cone

Each ice cream sells for 26 coins.

Thanks Rachel for pointing out that I was missing the sorbet cone!

Do you like the ice cream stand? How do you think it compares to the cold drinks vending machine?  Are you going to buy one, or are you going to buy ice creams from a friend’s stand?  Which ice cream is your favorite in real life and in the game?

The new Pet Society items were added to the stores. They have a super-sweet Hansel and Gretel theme. Here’s the scoop from the newsletter.

In the outdoor shop, there’s a message to check back tomorrow for a surprise. Let’s hope it’s a regular coin surprise! There’s also a big clearance sale going on with a lot of really nice items for sale.

In the furniture store, the “one week only” items are the cake armchair, ice cream table, and glazed donut chair.

The “just arrived” item are the donut armchair, cookie table, and cookie chair.

You can beg ask your friends to help you build a new collaborative item called the indulgent candy bed.

The last two “one week only” items in the furniture store are the candy dressing table and the chocolate dresser.

In the market, there’s a Hansel bear plushie available for “one week only” and a note to find Gretel in the town forest.

In the food shop, there’s an ice cream stand that you can buy and take home with you. Like the cold drinks vending machine, you and your friends can buy ice cream from it anytime.

There are three chocolate boxes that will give a new chocolate each day for a week. Each of the three boxes has the same chocolate selection inside. There’s a rosy chocolate box, golden chocolate box, and a purple chocolate box.

A bunch of items that were needing for cooking recipes have been returned to the food shop, as promised!

In the clothing shop girl’s section, the “one week only” items are the candy shop waitress outfit and shoes.

In the boys’ section, the “just arrived” items are candy shop waiter top and pants.

In the accessories section, there’s a chocolate cone hat.

In the hair stylist section, there’s a long pigtail wig.

In the DIY store, the “one week only” items are a pink cream wallpaper and floor.

In the windows and doors section, the “one week only” item is a chocolate cream door.

Also in furniture, the “one week only” items are the pink cream shelf, candy ceiling light, and ice cream candle. The “just arrived” item is the ice cream chandelier.

I think that just looking at this weeks items might give me cavities!!  I’m going to go brush my teeth right now. haha.

Do you like this week’s items? Which ones are your favorites? Least favorites?

Pet Society Cheesy Mayor Glitch July 18, 2010

When I posted earlier today about the Pet Society cooking problem regarding the mushroom stool, I was reminded that a commenter named Chef had asked me to post about the “Cheesy Mayor glitch” moths ago.  Sorry it’s taken me so long to post!

Since Momo is only an “apprentice chef,” she has never experienced this glitch, but players who have reached the “A List Celebrity Chef” rank are experiencing huge problems cooking.  The “A List Celebrity Chef” level unlocks the recipe to cook the Cheesy Mayor. Once players unlock this level, they get a “save failed” 3008 error when cooking any dish, so their kitchens are completely paralyzed.  Pets who reach this level can’t cook the Cheesy Mayor, or anything else for that matter.

There are two long discussions of this problem on the Playfish forum here and here.  According to the posts in these topics, the problem was reported to Playfish in April, but it still hasn’t been fixed. Chef wanted me to warn everyone that we shouldn’t be in hurry to cook the Cheesy Mayor in Pet Society because you won’t be able to enjoy cooking until the problem is fixed.  I feel sad for all the pets out there who love cooking and who’ve been receiving this error for months.  Come on Playfish, get this problem fixed so the Pet Chefs can have fun cooking again!

Pet Society Sales and Cooking the Vegetable Kebab July 18, 2010

In recent weeks, pet chefs have been plagued with recurring problems as ingredients are being discontinued from the Pet Society stores during clearance sales. Passerby and Penangite pointed out that the mushroom stool that’s currently on sale in the outdoor shop is an ingredient required to cook the vegetable kebab in Pet Society. The mushroom stool has always been a strange ingredient, since it was introduced as a piece of furniture, and was later relocated to the garden (now outdoor) store.  It’s a chair in the stores, not a food!

I’m still an apprentice chef, and can’t cook the vegetable kebab yet, but here’s a picture showing the ingredients required to cook it: the mushroom stool, the courgette and the pumpkin.

The last Pet Society food shop clearance sale removed the courgette and the pumpkin from the food shop, which caused problems for chefs in Pet Society. After players pointed out Playfish’s mistake, they announced that the courgette and pumpkin will return to the stores with the updates on July 19th.

Regarding the current problem with the mushroom stool, two moderators at the Playfish forum have reported the problem to Playfish.  Let’s hope that the mushroom stool is not removed from the store for good, or that Playfish comes up with a replacement ingredient to cook the vegetable kebabs. Let’s also keep out fingers crossed that Playfish will think about the consequences of placing items on clearance in the future.

Review of Pet Society Garden Pots July 17, 2010

Pet Society’s latest clearance sale is discontinuing most of the garden pots in the Outdoor Store.  Momo and I thought we’d do a review of the garden pot collection.

Here’s the list of pots and what Momo and I think of them all:

Garden Pots on Clearance (top row, from left to right)
Glass Pot – nice and simple, large base
Green Clay Pot – great design, classy. I love this one.
Rattan Flower Pot – pretty concept, but designed badly because the soil sticks out.
Ceramic Pot – nice design, simple and classic
Pretty Flower Pot – had the potential to be cute, but designed badly because the soil sticks out slightly.
Green Pot with Ribbon – designed badly because the soil sticks out.
Brown Bear Pot – designed very badly. The soil sticks out and looks ridiculous. Could have been super-cute! This has bugged me since last year.
Paper Pot – designed badly because the soil sticks out. Could be used as a paper bag to place groceries in, instead of as a plant pot.  Would make more sense!

Pots that are still available in the outdoor store (bottom row, from left to right)
Pink Ribbon Pot – pretty, but I’d prefer it without the ribbon
Rose Flower Pot – adorable little pot. Love it.
Classic White Pot – a bit too bulky
Princess Pot – nice, would be nice to have a non-girly version too

Pots that are still available in mystery boxes (bottom row, two pots on far right)
Tropic Flower Pot (can be found in gold mystery boxes) – Nice design, and understated colors for indoor and outdoor Pet Society use.
Shell Pot (can be found in purple mystery boxes) – Useful because you can sometimes manage to place two flowers in this pot together. Also can double as a fruit bowl.

Top Three Favorites Garden Pots - Green Clay Pot, Tropic Flower Pot, and Rose Flower Pot
Most Disappointing Pots – Rattan Flower Pot and Brown Bear Pot
Ugliest Pot – Paper Pot

Ever since the Rattan Flower Pot and Brown Bear Pot were released, I’ve wished that someone at Playfish would fix them so that the soil would stay inside the pot.  I know people posted about this problem on the Playfish forums, and I’d check every once in a while to see if it was finally corrected.  I’m disappointed that these two pots, which have so much potential to be nice looking, are being discontinued without ever being fixed.  Momo and I would have definitely used these two garden pots, instead of leaving them in the inventory for months, if they didn’t look so awful.   The Pretty Flower Pot, Paper Pot, and Green Pot with Ribbon all would have looked better had the layering been correct too. Does the layering problem with the soil bother anyone else, or am I just too picky?

Have you considered buying any of the garden pots on clearance?  Which ones are your favorites?

Momo found owl plushie and headband so far.

Have you and your pet found any of the new mystery items?
